Back to School Night Tomorrow!

Please join us at Back to School Night tomorrow (Tuesday), Sept. 13, beginning at 5:50 in the DCIS Auditorium.

You’ll learn about what it’s like to go through your student’s day, teachers’ expectations and policies, how teachers grade and their teaching style, the best way to contact teachers, and more.

You can ask questions about the curriculum, grading, strategies for success and other questions that will be useful to parents in general. We ask that you hold off on asking questions specific to your student, as those are better suited to a one-on-one appointment with the teacher, which you can schedule at another time. (You’ll also have an opportunity for such discussions at parent-teacher conferences in the fall.)

Parents will follow their student’s schedule and “attend” every class for 8 minutes, with a 4-minute passing period. Students are welcome to accompany parents. If you attend without your student, please make sure you bring a copy of their schedule (which you can find on the Parent Portal or get from your student). We’ll hand out a school map, and student leaders will be on hand to help parents find classrooms, so don’t worry about getting lost!

Also be sure to check out the club expo beforehand, beginning at 5:15 in the main hallway, to learn more about what’s offered and specifics about various clubs. The PTSA will be selling DCIS T-shirts, and other clubs may be selling items for fundraisers as well.

Hope to see you there!
