IMPORTANT FLYER APP CHANGES

YOU HAVE THE APP
If you've had the Flyer app for a while, you might be wondering about that message you received via the app last week asking you to verify by tapping "I have a code."

The app now has new functionality enabled that ties it to your contact info in Infinite Campus and allows teachers and administrators to contact you directly via the app individually. By going through the verification process, you're giving the school permission to contact you through the app.

In conjunction with this new functionality, we had to split the app into a middle school app and a high school app. If you have kids at both levels, you'll need to be sure both are added to the app (see directions below).

YOU DON'T HAVE THE APP
The Flyer app is a key way the school communicates with the DCIS community (not just parents, but also students, teachers and staff). If you haven't already downloaded it, please follow the steps below to set up your app correctly:

  1. Search "Flyer School" in the Apple or Google Play store, or visit https://www.flyerconnect.org/app.
  2. Once you've installed the app, enter your verification code, and you'll automatically be added to the school your child attends.
  3. Tap the Language button on the bottom left of the screen to select your preferred language (if other than English).
  4. Tap the school name to view school (and eventually group) content.

We are in the process of adding groups (grade levels, clubs, etc.) and will let you know when those are available. When they are (and once you're verified), you'll be able to tap the Groups icon at the bottom of the home page to add yourself to relevant groups to receive grade-level or activity-based messaging.

If you have problems with downloading or using the app, please contact our support team.

TRAVEL CENTER NEWS ...

CIEE SCHOLARSHIPS
If you or your child is interested in applying for any of the CIEE programs, IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO APPLY! February 14 is the second application deadline for CIEE programs and scholarships. Students may apply for scholarships based on merit or merit and need. Discover their high-quality, intensive programs.

DCIS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Hey travelers, the DEADLINE for winter scholarship and grant applications is this Friday, Jan. 31, at midnight.

All information including orientation, forms, etc. can be found here.

ATTENTION 8TH GRADE FAMILIES:
CHANGE IN SCHOOL CHOICE POLICY

All 8th graders at DCIS will automatically be enrolled in 9th grade at DCIS unless they fill out the choice form indicating another choice (or choices). For the past several years, the reverse has been true — 8th graders were automatically enrolled in their neighborhood school and had to fill out a choice form with DCIS as their first choice in order to remain at DCIS for high school.

High school students have just received art commissions from their DCIS clients and are learning experientially about the life of a commercial artist. Middle school students are getting ready to create visual worlds based on literature, and learning how to control media on various surfaces.

Also, the Art Club will again be selling cookies outside the Art Room right after school (2:55-3:10 pm) for $1 each; this week we have hand-painted cookies for Chinese New Year! Next week, the valentine cookies begin!
