LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL ...
Dear DCIS Parents,
On Monday, Oct. 30, and Wednesday, Nov. 1, we will hold Parent/Teacher Conferences so that parents have an opportunity to meet with their child's content teachers. To sign up for a time with the teachers you want to see, go to the DCIS website and click on Parent/Teacher Conferences, which will take you to a page with a link for each teacher. Simply click on the link for the teacher you want to see and then pick the time slot you prefer. We are hoping to see all of you next week sometime between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. on either Monday or Wednesday, or both! Taking the time to speak with your child's teachers can make a big difference in their achievement and success in class. We also will be distributing student report cards for the first nine weeks' grading period during this time.
As a reminder, students have no school on Thursday or Friday of next week: Oct. 26–27. The DCIS staff wishes you and your children a safe, fun and enjoyable four-day weekend! Also be aware that on Friday, Nov. 3, there is no school for students or staff.
Looking ahead, we'll be discussing our school's newly released SPF (School Performance Framework) rating and our plan for next steps. We'll meet on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the cafeteria. Our PTSA will provide dinner starting at 6 p.m., along with child care and simultaneous interpretation, and the SPF presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see you there.
Finally, mark your calendars to come see our Drama Club's fall production of The Phantom Tollbooth, Nov. 16–18 at 6 p.m. in the DCIS auditorium.
I hope you and your families get the chance to enjoy the glorious fall weather while it lasts!
Theresa McCorquodale DCIS Principal
